Greta MacMahon uses a variety of media and techniques, including painting, collage, drawing and clay, in an attempt to integrate aspects of our somewhat polarised existence into an experience of wholeness, awareness and openness. Through her art, she honours and explores mythology, archetypes, dream-language symbols, magical realism, and an array of polarities such as darkness/light, masculine/feminine, conscious/subconscious, above/below and life/death.
Greta has participated in numerous group and six solo exhibitions in South Africa, Ireland and Holland. Her artworks have been included in the corporate collections of the Hollard Group, Nando’s and Spier, as well as in private collections in South Africa, the USA, the UAE, Holland, Norway, the UK and Ireland. In 2005 she was an Absa L’Atelier Art Competition finalist.
She holds a BA in fine arts from the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art.
