Andries Dirks
Andries discovered his love for sculpting with clay as a child while playing along the river banks around Riebeek Valley. It was only years later, though, that his true talent for sculpting was discovered while he was incarcerated in Malmesbury prison.
Andries has undergone a long journey of trying to pursue his love for art, interspersed with periods of incarceration.
Finally, he now has a permanent art studio and the use of a sponsored kiln in the tourist hub of Short Street in Riebeek Kasteel.
Andries is participating in his fourth Solo Studios event, but for the first time as a fully fledged Studio Artist.
