Emma Willemse
Emma Willemse is a conceptual artist and art educator. Exploring ideas about experiences associated with loss and place, such as displacement, sense of place and site-specific commemoration; Emma’s art practice includes an output in a wide range of media and techniques, including installations, painting, printmaking, photography, artist’s books and film.
She has exhibited extensively in South Africa and overseas. Her award-winning artist’s books have been shown in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Johannesburg, Dakar, Florence, Paris and London. Her works have been included in the collections of Art Bank Johannesburg, Spier Collection and the SA Embassy in Beijing.
Emma is involved in community art projects and presents art related talks from time to time. She holds a Masters in Visual Art and qualifications in librarianship and psychology.
