Emma Willemse
Emma Willemse is a conceptual artist and art educator. Her artworks are technically varied, and include sculptural installations, printmaking, artist’s books, painting and drawing. Her art-making practice deals with issues of displacement, place-making and sense of place, revealing an interest in found objects, fragments and traces of things left behind.

In addition to displaying her works in progress at Solo Studios 2022, Emma collaborates with photographer Rudolph Willemse and curator Elizabeth Miller-Vermeulen to stage an exhibition which will highlight the shared visual interests in the art practices of both artists.
Emma has exhibited extensively in South Africa, Africa and abroad, and her works have been included in the Nando’s Collection, the Spier Collection, and the South African Embassy in Beijing. Her award-winning artist’s books installation have been exhibited in diverse configurations in Florence, Dakar, Johannesburg, Paris, London and recently in Cape Town and at the Spier Wine Farm.
