Emma Willemse is a conceptual artist, lecturer and curator. Her art-making practice deals with issues of displacement and is informed by her own experiences. Her artworks are technically varied, and include sculptural installations, printmaking, artist’s books, painting and drawing.
Emma holds a Master’s degree in visual art from the University of South Africa, and qualifications in psychology and librarianship. She has exhibited extensively locally and abroad, including being the festival artist for Woordfees in Stellenbosch in 2018 and participating in the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London. Her works are held in the Art Bank Joburg, the Nando’s Collection, the Arcadia Collection and the South African Embassy in Beijing.
