FOR LIFE CENTRE
FOR LIFE Centre is a registered NPO Community Arts and Mental Health Resource organization located in Riebeek Valley. Its mission is to address issues originating from the past, particularly the lack of meaning and purpose in individuals’ lives.
The organization focuses on fostering personal growth, promoting community development and encouraging moral responsibility and leadership via the principles of Dr.Viktor Frankl’s Logotherapy which also forms the basis of its mental health programs.
As part of 2024’s Solo Studios event, For Life will be showcasing the work of Nico Rens and his Africa Ilumination community project which aims to foster and develop imagination, creativity and passion amongst the women of the Riebeek Valley while simultaneously providing a sustainable source of employment for some of them.

NICO RENS | AFRICA ILLUMINATION
Nico grew up in the Eastern Cape where he developed a passion for architecture. His passion was not matched by his maths prowess which meant he had to settle for Architectural Drafting – with which he quickly became disillusioned. Realising that Interior Design might fulfil his desire to work in structural design, several wonderful opportunities came along, including designing pieces for Madiba’s first official residence as President.
Nico went on to open Artemis Inter Design, but in 2005 became extremely ill and was given a small chance of survival. He made it, but was unable to work for many years during which he had to find a sense of purpose. He became a massage practitioner which enabled to explore his other passion: healing.
Five years ago he moved to the Valley where he marries his two passions through his remedial massage practice in Riebeek West and the AFRICA ILLUMINATION project.
