Gordon Williams
Gordon Williams is a self-taught artist but acknowledges the powerful impact his high school art teacher had on his future career. In 2012, Williams devoted himself to painting full-time and he describes how creativity allows for “a momentary escape from reality”.
His Swartland, plein air landscape, bold and vivid still life and, more recently abstract paintings are a unique combination of Expressionism and Impressionism and exude raw energy and movement.
Working in his studio or en plein air, Williams uses only white and the three process printing colours, (magenta, cyan & yellow) to create his pallet, at times adding charcoal or pastel to the painting.
To date, Williams has had nine solo exhibitions and been included in a further ten group exhibitions – his paintings hang in private collections across the world.
