Luan Nel

Cape Town-based artist Luan Nel has a fascination with the transient and the poetic potential of his subjects, and his works communicate on a personal or emotional level with the viewer and the world around him.

Luan and Quentin du Plooy’s friendship began in the heady bohemian days of post-apartheid Johannesburg in the mid-1990s. A mutual irreverence, playfulness and flamboyant approach to life and art has resulted in their GROUND | VISTA | VESSEL collaboration, in which the depiction of the landscape in its many and varied forms is explored.
